Short stay Schengen visa (C-visa) and Long Stay National visa (D-visa)?
The visa is valid for the following 26 European countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
A visa issued by an Embassy or Consulate of the above countries incidentally allows the holder to travel freely in all of these countries.
- Short stay Schengen visa (C-visa) authorizes you to stay on Schengen territory for a term not longer than 90 days during a period of 180 days starting from your first entry on the territory. Please consult the short stay calculator.
- Special type visa (C-visa) is valid for 90 days but authorizes you to a Long Stay National visa (D-visa) in Belgium for a period longer than 90 days once you are registered in Belgium.
- It authorizes you to stay in Belgium for a period longer than 90 days (students, researchers, workers, family reunification, …).
