Visa for Luxembourg
Before applying, please ensure that Luxembourg is your main destination and that you are very clear on your purpose of travel.
The Embassy of Belgium in Vietnam is representing Luxembourg for handling long stay D- visa applications (more than 90 days) and in the north of Vietnam for handling short stay C- visa applications (max. 90 days). The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands is representing Luxembourg for handling short stay C- visa applications (max. 90 days) in the South.
All applications should be lodged at the Belgian Visa Application Centers. For short stay in Hanoi, for long stay in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, or Danang. Personal appearance is in principle compulsory.
You will first fill in your electronic application form on this official website.
Applicants will have to book an appointment through VFS and submit their visa application at the Belgian Visa Application Center once they have printed and signed this form and gathered the documents. In some cases, applicants will need to present themselves for an interview at the Embassy after submitting their applications at the Belgian Visa Application Center.

How much is the visa fee?
The price of the visa varies and depends on the visa type. The exchange rate is determined by the Public Federal Service Foreign Affairs in Belgium and may fluctuate. Consult the fee overview. The same is subject to change without notice. The visa fee is non-refundable. Do not pay any additional contribution in Belgium for your visa D application for Luxembourg.
Required documents
You will find all conditions on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Luxembourg, the only competent authority for the admittance, stay, residence and removal of foreigners. You can consult the website for information in English, in French, and German.
For short stay (less than 90 days), consult this website for the correct procedures.
Applicant who intend to stay in Luxembourg for more than 3 months must follow a procedure in two consecutive steps before entering the country:
- Apply for a Temporary Authorisation to Stay or a work permit directly at the Immigration Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.
- Apply for a VISA D only after having obtained the Temporary Authorisation to Stay. Consult the website for more information.
Checking the status of your visa application
Belgian embassies and consulates general must submit certain visa applications to the Immigration Office of the Federal Public Service Home Affairs for a final decision. It is the only competent authority with regards to the admittance, stay, residence and removal of foreigners from Belgian territory.
You can follow the status/evolution and information on the average processing time per category of visa application of your application with the Track your application App on the website of the Immigration Office in Dutch and in French. You need to request your visa application’s file number by email hanoi@diplobel.fed.be, mention clearly your exact last and first name as mentioned on your passport, your passport number and your date of birth.
Questions regarding the exact processing times of a visa application cannot be answered by email or phone. The Belgian Embassy will inform you personally once a decision has been taken.
